Who would believe we'd get a 70 degree three day weekend? With all the regular house chores done I had a chance to start on some side rails for the truck. I'll be adding a flat folding bed cover in the spring, one that still allows for use of the side rails.
Matching the same color to the teardrop I was able to stain, spar urethane and assemble these side rails. What I hope to add is the Yakima crossbars on the top boards to carry my kayaks. The folding cover will be lockable and make it safe to carry items, both camping and kayaking.
The wood was about $30, hardware about $16. If it works it will look nice. I'm actually storing the side rails for the harsh winter and I'll slide them in place come spring time!
